Earlier in the window, it emerged that the prodigious attacker had caught the attention of scouts in France — one of the biggest footballing nations in the world. The Amajimbos forward is believed to be on the radar of Les Verts, and has since featured for their youth sides.
Having recently returned from representing South Africa at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, the 17-year-old was clearly eager to continue showcasing his talents abroad. That opportunity came during an Under-21 European tournament held in Ploufragan, northern France, with Stevens part of the Saint-Etienne side competing.
Although the club's senior team was relegated from Ligue 1 and will now compete in the 2025/26 Ligue 2 season, the youth side performed admirably in the tournament — reaching the final before narrowly losing 1-0 to Stade Rennais, widely regarded as one of France's premier development clubs.
However, it was in the round robins stages against PSG where Stevens made his mark. After Les Parisiens opened the scoring in the first minute, Les Stephanois responded just eight minutes later — thanks to the former Cape Town Spurs winger. Stevens showcased his close control and flair, dancing past a few defenders in the box before firing home the equaliser.

Although Saint-Etienne would ultimately lose the game on penalties, Stevens’ performance — capped by a goal against elite opposition — will no doubt have impressed the club’s technical team as he seeks to earn a permanent move to Europe.
