Despite speculation linking Scott Chickelday with a possible return to Orlando Pirates, Siya sources understand that there are currently no plans for the Englishman to rejoin the Soweto giants – at least for the time being.
Chickelday, who had a brief yet impactful stint as the Buccaneers’ striker’s coach during the 2022/23 season, has been the subject of recent speculation linking him with a possible return to the club.

However, Siya sources understand that there is currently no movement from the Pirates camp regarding a reunion, and the talk appears to be premature.
During his short tenure, Chickelday made a noticeable impact – Pirates netted 10 goals in his first three matches working with the team.
Players praised his contributions, especially in finishing and set-pieces, crediting the drills he introduced for the improved sharpness in front of goal during that period.
With Pirates currently aiming to sharpen their attack under new head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, there were whispers that Chickelday might be brought back to assist.
While the coach himself has made no secret of his admiration for the club and his desire to return at some point in the future, it’s understood that no official approach has been made by Pirates’ technical team or management.
It is believed that Chickelday remains in contact with some of the players he worked with and continues to follow South African football closely.

However, he has since turned his attention to other coaching commitments abroad.
At present, Ouaddou is working with a solid backroom team that includes Mandla Ncikazi and Rayaan Jacobs as assistant coaches, Tyron Damons as goalkeeper coach, and Helmi Gueldich overseeing strength and conditioning duties. There is no indication from the club that any additions to the technical department are imminent.
