The drawn-out transfer saga involving the South African star and the record Botola Pro Inwi champions looks set to finally reach a conclusion.
After a successful loan spell with the Red Castle in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, Wydad have been actively pursuing the Bloemfontein native’s services on a permanent basis.
While Lorch impressed in Morocco’s domestic league, it was his standout performances against Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain that reportedly prompted Wydad to intensify efforts to sign the 32-year-old permanently.
The three-time CAF Champions League winners are believed to have submitted an initial bid for Lorch, which was rejected by Sundowns. At one point, reports even suggested that the Moroccan giants were no longer interested in pursuing the deal.
However, earlier this week, news emerged that Wydad were preparing a revised offer for the Betway Premiership champions to consider – and it now appears that a breakthrough has been made.
