Thembinkosi Lorch found the back of the net for Wydad Casablanca, who lost 4-1 to Juventus at the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday evening.

Venue: Lincoln Financial Field

Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cassius Mailula dropped to the bench as Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng was handed a start alongside Thembinkosi Lorch in the attack.

The Italian giants went onto take the lead in the sixth minute as Kenan Yıldız combined with Khéphren Thuram in the box before seeing his strike take a deflection off Wydad defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil, was credited with the own goal.

The lead was doubled ten minutes later when Yildiz got his goal by latching onto Andrea Cambiaso's lay-off and rifling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.

However, the Moroccan giants gave themselves some hope on minutes when Nordin Amrabat played in Lorch, who took one touch and lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who had rushed off his line.

Wydad certainly ended the first half stronger than they started, but they were unable to find an equaliser in the closing stages of the first half.

Coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem made a double change at the start of the second half, as new signing Omar Al Somah came on for his debut to replace Obeng while Bart Meijers made way for Selemani Mwalimu in the defence.

However, Juventus restored their two-goal advantage on 68 minutes as Yildiz completed his brace by latching onto a through-ball from Randal Kolo Muani before showing the composure to carve out space in the box and slot into the far corner.

Wydad were unable to claw their way back into the contest and conceded a fourth goal in stoppage time when Dušan Vlahović converted penalty to round off an emphatic victory.

The Moroccan giants will be eliminated if Manchester City beat Al Ain on Monday morning.
