Gallery: Bucs Make Big Statement With Youngsters

After the Soweto Derby victory over Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates supporters have not more reason to be excited about the Nedbank Cup final this weekend and what's to come next season. 

The Buccaneers came from behind to complete a double over their rivals at FNB Stadium on Saturday, keeping their slim hopes of winning the Betway Premiership title.

Pirates had six players who have graduated from the DStv Diski Challenge side, showing just how well they are doing to produce talent for the future.

It's similar to the time when Kosta Papic was coach of the Buccaneers, when they had the likes of Lebohang Mokoena, Phumudzo Manenzhe, the late Gift Leremi, Kelebogile Mabe, Joseph Makhanya, Lucas Twala and Benedict Vilakazi as players who had come through the development ranks to the senior team.

Head coach Jose Riveiro will not only be remembered for the trophies he won with Pirates, but the young players he brought up to the first team.
