As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Chiefs' Ranga Chivaviro was uncertain about his future. Now, sources have indicated that the former Marumo Gallants striker is unlikely to remain with the club beyond the end of the season.
"There is a list of players who are believed to be leaving the club at the end of the season and apparently Ranga Chivaviro is one of them. You remember before the arrival of (Makabi) Lilepo they wanted to extend Ranga's contract but it seems now that won't be happening. He is set to leave the club. It's believed to be the end of the road for him at Chiefs," the Siya source stated.
A second insider stated that Chiefs are now focused on promoting young talent from their DStv Diski Challenge team and bringing in one experienced senior striker as part of their strategy to reshape the squad.
"Yes, they are still looking at signing at least one senior experienced striker but they have also recommended the promotion of the youngsters from the DDC side and that's the other reason why Ranga is set to leave the club at the end of his contract in June," the second insider told the Siya crew.
Chivaviro, who joined Chiefs from Marumo Gallants, has had a tough stint at Naturena. Over two seasons, the 32-year-old has made a significant amount of league appearances, but has not been a prolific scorer in Soweto. His struggles on the pitch, coupled with challenges off it, have contributed to the decision to part ways.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Kaizer Chiefs for comment on Chivaviro's situation, but the club had not responded at the time of publication.
