Orbit Turn To Pirates Keeper

Orbit Turn To Pirates Keeper

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - JANUARY 18:Visagie Ethan of Orlando Pirates during the DStv Diski Challenge match between Orland Pirates Reserve and Polokwane City

With pre-season training now underway, newly-promoted Betway Premiership side Orbit College FC are continuing their ambitious recruitment drive, with another Orlando Pirates player reportedly in their sights.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Orbit College have already secured the services of Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng on a season-long loan.

Now, sources close to the club and player have indicated that the top flight newcomers are looking to strengthen another key position with a similar arrangement.

The sources added that Orbit College are believed to have inquired about Pirates goalkeeper Ethan Visagie, with negotiations focused on a one-year loan deal.

"The talks are ongoing, and it's looking positive with the terms and conditions of the loan deal. For now, it's believed that it should be a one-season loan deal," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second insider explained that the potential move aligns with Pirates' long-term development plan for the young shot-stopper, who currently finds himself fourth in the pecking order at the Soweto giants.

"Pirates are looking at the future with Ethan (Visagie) to compete for the first-choice goalkeeping position one day, but now he is behind Sipho Chaine, Siyabonga Dladla and Melusi Buthelezi, so that is why they want him. They want Ethan to grow and gain experience, hence the proposed loan move to Orbit College," the second insider revealed.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper joined the Buccaneers at the start of last season from NC Profession, and he awaits an opportunity to break into the first team.

Soccer Laduma contacted Orbit College and Pirates for comment regarding the interest in Visagie but received no response at the time of publishing.
