Mozambican international Edmilson Dove is expected to remain in the Betway Premiership, with several clubs already showing interest in the experienced defender following his departure from Kaizer Chiefs.
Chiefs confirmed Dove’s exit last Tuesday via a statement on their official website, revealing that the player’s contract would not be renewed when it expires at the end of June.

While his time at Naturena has come to an end, Dove’s career in Mzansi’s top flight appears far from over.
A source close to the situation told the Siya crew, “He might have parted ways with Chiefs, but Edmilson Dove is likely to continue playing in the Betway Premiership. He is a top player and a great professional. Unlike in the past when he left Cape Town City and went on to join a club (UD Songo) back home in Mozambique, this time around he is likely to continue in the Betway Premiership. It won’t be long before he joins a new club.”
The 30-year-old’s versatility, able to operate both as a left-back and centre-back, and leadership qualities make him an attractive option for clubs seeking stability and experience at the back.
According to sources in the know, Sekhukhune United and Chippa United are among the clubs believed to be monitoring Dove’s situation closely.

Both clubs are expected to bolster their defensive departments ahead of the 2025/26 season, and Dove’s availability on a free transfer makes him an appealing prospect.
Having previously played for Cape Town City before a brief return to Mozambique, Dove has already proven his quality in the PSL.
