The midfielder made headlines last weekend with his goal from within his own half to earn Kaizer Chiefs a win over their fierce rivals Orlando Pirates in a sold-out Soweto Derby.
So impactful has Maart's goal been that even FIFA sat up and took note.
Now, the midfielder has shared his thoughts on making his derby debut against his former employers.
"I am grateful to play for a big team and playing in front of a crowd like that is something wonderful and I really appreciate the support," he said via the club's official website of his first derby experience.
He also opened up on the special goal and his reaction to supporters calling it the Goal of the Season already, although there is still more than half of the campaign to play.
"It was something special. I saw the goalkeeper off his line, and I just hit it direct to the poles and it went in."
"Ja, it's obvious. Like they say, it's Goal of the Season," he added.

Maart will once again get an opportunity to come up against Pirates, although this time in the Carling Black Label Cup on 12 November. Chiefs take on Pirates in another Soweto Derby, while Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu do battle in the corresponding fixture.
The winners of the two matches will contest the final at FNB Stadium.
