The story
The dust has settled on Mamelodi Sundowns' CAF Champions League loss to Pyramids FC last Sunday, and the Tshwane giants have shifted their focus to the new-look FIFA Club World Cup tournament, starting on 15 June.
FIFA has revealed the Team Base Camp Training Sites for the 32 participating teams, seeing Masandawana, one of Africa's four representatives, stationed in Florida.
Sundowns will conduct their late tournament preparations at the world-renowned IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
The state-of-the-art training base offers top-tier facilities and a high-performance environment, providing the perfect setting for the Brazilians to fine-tune their tactics and fitness ahead of the global showpiece.
IMG Academy is regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious sports, performance, and educational institutions.
IMG offers sports camps across 14 sporting codes, with multiple training programmes for the USA's elite high school and post-high school talent.
According to IMG Academy's website, the world-class training facility is just minutes from the Gulf Coast’s scenic beaches and within driving distance of major cities like Orlando, Tampa, and Sarasota.
Sundowns players not only benefit from top-tier facilities but also have access to popular nearby attractions such as Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios.
The team can unwind on the beaches of Anna Maria Island or Longboat Key and enjoy a variety of dining, shopping, cultural events, and golf options in the vibrant Bradenton area.
