The story
Stellenbosch FC's CAF Confederation Cup group stage campaign ended in disappointment as they were thrashed 5-0 by RS Berkane.
Stellies struggled under the lights in front of a packed Stade Municipal de Berkane, making it quite the learning curve for Steve Barker's troops who progressed to the quarter-finals for the very first time.
Despite the heavy defeat, Stellies finished the group stage with a respectable nine points, securing three victories and suffering three losses.
Before their Sunday night pummeling, the players and staff received a special welcome to the northeastern Moroccan city of Berkane.
The players were seen sipping what appeared to be traditional Moroccan mint tea, served in glasses before riding quadricycle bikes and heading to the beach for a recovery session.
