Relebohile Mofokeng gifted his Orlando Pirates jersey to former teammate and longtime idol, Thembinkosi Lorch.
The gesture highlighted the mutual respect and admiration between the rising star and the seasoned playmaker, capturing the hearts of the Happy People, as a video of Lorch unwrapping Rele's number 39 has been doing the rounds on the X timeline.
Lorch, who is still on the books at Mamelodi Sundowns after a successful half-season spell at Wydad Athletic Club, shared a changeroom with Mofokeng for a brief period before making the switch to Downs in January 2024.
"Nyoso" has long had an admirer in Mofokeng, who in 2023 expressed his excitement over sharing the pitch with his role model during the last match of the 2022/23 season, a 4-0 drubbing over AmaZulu.
"In the game against AmaZulu, I was showboating with Lorch, and it was the happiest moment of the match. It was the first time I was playing with my role model," said Mofokeng, as quoted by The Sowetan.
"I couldn't believe that I was playing with him, looking at him from close range. I told him afterwards that I was in disbelief that I was playing with him. He then explained to me that we will play more games together going forward," shared Mofokeng two years ago.
