The story

Edmilson Dove shared an emotional farewell message on Instagram to thank his Kaizer Chiefs family following news of his release from the club.

With his contract set to expire at the end of June, Chiefs have decided not to offer the 30-year-old defender a renewal.

Dove joined Amakhosi in August 2022 from Mozambican side UD Songo, where he enjoyed a short stint after leaving Betway Premiership side, Cape Town City.

His final season at Naturena was disrupted by injury, as a ruptured Achilles tendon during the club's 2024/25 pre-season camp in Turkey limited him to just 13 appearances across all competitions.

The experienced campaigner made four major thank yous in his farewell message, starting with chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung Jr., to his teammates, coaches and club staff, as well as the Khosi Nation and his family.

"It's been a crazy ride, of which I have grown not only as a player, but also as a human being.

"We had our ups and downs, we have shed some tears along the way, but we also had joyful moments which I will cherish forever," wrote Dove.

During his time at the Glamour Boys, Dove fully embraced the club's famous nickname and stood out as one of the team's most eccentric dressers.
