The story

Mamelodi Sundowns secured a historic 1-0 victory over South Korea's Ulsan HD in their opening match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, thanks to a first-half goal from striker Iqraam Rayners.

The win, earned in a weather-delayed clash at Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando, marked Sundowns' first-ever Club World Cup triumph and the first win for an African team in the revamped 32-team tournament.

Although the encounter reportedly had just over 3,400 supporters coming through the gates at Orlando City's home stadium, the yellow of Masandawana dominated the support.

After the narrow win, which included two disallowed goals for Rayners, the players made their way over to the stands to sing with the joyous fans clad in the bright colours of Ka Bo Yellow.

The result also put the recent CAF Champions League runners-up at the top of Group F, following a goalless draw between Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense.
