The story
Molefi Ntseki's Bafana Bafana side has infused this year's CHAN tournament with unmistakable Mzansi flair, turning heads both on the pitch with amazing celebrations and off it with spirited pre-match Gwijo songs.
In the three goals scored by SA against Algeria and Guinea, coordinated team celebrations have stood out, showcasing unity and joy in the squad captained by Mamelodi Sundowns' Neo Maema.
The positive vibes in the squad have yielded a good start to the tournament. Following their 1-1 stalemate with Algeria in last week's African Nations Championship opener, Bafana secured their first Group C win on Monday night with a gritty 2-1 triumph over Guinea at Mandela Stadium in Kampala.
It's the duty of every South African team representing the country in an international tournament to set the stage before kick-off, and this Bafana has done just that in their pre-match songs, which serve as a vibrant reflection of South African football culture.
Bafana's third game of the tournament will see them take on Niger this Friday before wrapping up the group stages with a clash against co-hosts, Uganda.
