Several players from the CAF region completed big-money moves to England this off-season, with the most notable being Bryan Mbeumo’s €75 million (R1.5 billion) switch from Brentford to Manchester United.
Not only did the Cameroon international arrive with a hefty price tag, but he also earned a significant pay rise. According to Capology, the 26-year-old now pockets £150 000 (R3.5 million) per week — making him the third highest-paid African in the league.
While much of the top 10 is made up of sub-Saharan African talent, the top two spots are both occupied by Egyptians. Sitting just above Mbeumo is Manchester City’s new signing Omar Marmoush. The versatile forward, who joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in a €75 million deal, heads into his first full Premier League campaign with a weekly wage of £295 000 (R7 million).
At the summit of the list is his compatriot Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool icon was entering the final year of his deal last season, but amid the contract stand-off he delivered one of his most productive campaigns to date, finishing with 29 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.

That stellar form gave Salah the leverage he needed to secure a two-year extension worth a staggering £400 000 per week (R9.5 million), making him not only the best-paid African player in the Premier League, but one of the highest earners in England overall.
