Arsenal and Chelsea are considered two of London's biggest teams and enjoyed a strong rivalry with each other in the 2000s as the two sides emerged as the biggest contenders to Manchester United's Premier League dominance.
The rivalry between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho began during Mourinho's first tenure as Chelsea boss and continued when he returned to The Blues in 2013, as Mourinho's Chelsea beat Wenger's Arsenal 6-0 in the Frenchman's 1000th Arsenal game.
It didn't stop on the sidelines and extended to the players. While several players had previously played for both teams, none had ever crossed lines directly until 2006.
England left-back Ashley Cole, a member of Arsenal's invincibles team in 2003/04, made the move directly to Chelsea, with Frenchman William Gallas moving in the opposite direction.
Gallas was the first player to move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates and started a long list of transfers directly between the two clubs.
Among them are two Chelsea title winners in David Luiz and Willian, who moved to the Gunners in consecutive transfer windows.
The 2025 transfer window has already seen two Chelsea stars join Mikel Arteta's side. Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga joined as a backup goalkeeper, while Noni Madueke is closing in on a £52 million (R1,2 billion) deal.
