Dikgacoi Claims Isak's R3bn Fee Is Justified

Kagiso Dikgacoi feels Alexander Isak's transfer fee ahead of his move to Liverpool is justified.

Former South African Premier League star Kagiso Dikgacoi believes that Alexander Isak’s record-breaking transfer to Liverpool is fully justified.

After a prolonged transfer saga, the deal involving the Swedish striker, Newcastle United and Liverpool has reached its conclusion. Isak has officially joined the reigning Premier League champions.

It is understood that the reigning English champions paid £130 million (R3 billion) for the Solna native, a fee that would make him the most expensive player in British football history. While some critics may view the price tag as excessive, Dikgacoi strongly disagrees.

The former Bafana Bafana international, who played in the Premier League under Roy Hodgson at Fulham, Ian Holloway and Tony Pulis at Crystal Palace, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Cardiff City, believes Isak’s quality will shine through immediately for the Reds.

“I think he’ll be of great importance to Liverpool since (Luis) Diaz and (Darwin) Nunez left the club,” the former defensive midfielder told Soccer Laduma.

“He’ll definitely be a great addition into the squad, he did well for Newcastle (United), so I think the moment he gets there he will just step in because he has proven that in the past seasons what he can do, so I think he will be a good addition to the team.”

The 40-year-old also argued that the fee reflects the realities of the modern game.

“Yeah, it’s big, I mean, if the standard and the players are always improving, then why not if the money is there. So I think it’s a fair transfer fee and he deserves it,” he added.

“Definitely, like I said, he proved himself at Newcastle last season and obviously his stake is just going to keep going higher, so it’s worth it in actual fact for Liverpool.”
