Just days before he turns 30, Maart joins the newly-promoted team on a two-year deal until 2027, with an option to extend for an additional year. In an official announcement on the club website, the Austrian side welcomed the former Orlando Pirates midfielder and described the qualities he will bring to the team.
"We are very happy that Yusuf has chosen SV Oberbank Ried," SV Ried Sporting Director Wolfgang Fiala said.
"We have been observing him for some time and are convinced that he is a perfect fit for our playing style. Yusuf is a very complete midfielder: He can steer the game, is strong in duels, is willing to run hard, and also has a good eye for his teammates," Fiala added.
The Cape Town-born native has enjoyed a distinguished career thus far, playing for the likes of Cape Umoya United, Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs, where he captained the team to their first trophy in 10 years, winning the Nedbank Cup.
"He also brings leadership qualities that will be beneficial to our young team. His international experience and his always-winning mentality were crucial factors for us in this signing," the Director concluded.
Maart was excited for the next chapter of his football career, and the six-time capped South African international shared his feelings ahead of his move.
"This is a great opportunity for me to play here in Europe," the former Glamour Boy said.
"I'm really looking forward to gaining new experiences. I want to give my best in every game and be a great contributor to the team, both on and off the pitch," he added.
