Serie A
Result: Cagliari 0-2 Juventus
Date: 02 April 2019
Venue: Sardegna Arena
Cristiano Ronaldo's absence does not seem to have an effect on Juventus, who registered a 2-0 victory over Cagliari in Serie A on Tuesday evening.
Bianconeri, who were still without Cristiano Ronaldo, made four changes from their victory over Empoli the last time out, with young striker Moise Kean getting a rare start in place of Mario Mandzukic, while Mattia De Sciglio, Martin Caceres and Leonardo Bonucci were drafted in to the line-up.
Caceres should have opened the scoring for Massimiliano Allegri's charges in the 11th minute after being picked out at the back post by Miralem Pjanic, but he struck his effort straight at Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno.
Ten minutes later, Bonucci was much more clinical as he broke the deadlock for the visitors with a powerful header inside the box that found the top corner following a cross from Federico Bernardeschi.
The hosts had their best chance with seven minutes remaining of the first stanza through Joao Pedro, who went through at the near post but guided his first-time strike wide.
The early exchanges of the second stanza were lively and Kean almost gave Juventus a two-goal cushion two minutes before the hour-mark after weaving his way into the box, but his attempted lob was smothered by Cragno.
Leonardo Pavoletti nearly snatched the equaliser for Cagliari with 15 minutes remaining after being left unmarked inside the box but his effort sailed over the bar.
However, Kean delivered the killer blow six minutes before time with an easy tap-in from close range following a quick counter-attack rounded off by Bentancur.
The Old Lady victory sees Juve extend their lead at the top of the table to 18 points, while Cagliari remain in 12th position.
