The Juventus superstar was named the UEFA Champions League Forward of the 2017/18 Season, but missed out on the main award, with his former teammate Luka Modric lifting the UEFA Men's Player of the Year trophy.
Sky Italia have now claimed that Ronaldo was informed about the decision to award Modric the main accolade, and was unhappy with the selection.
As a consequence, the 33-year-old, who had won the previous two editions of the award, decided to snub the gala, despite winning one of the individual trophies.
Ronaldo was named the UEFA Player of the Year in 2007/08, 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2016/17, while Modric has now lifted the award for the first time.
