Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make Harry Kane the most expensive player in the club's history in this upcoming transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Erik ten Hag has made Kane his number one transfer target for the off-season as the Dutchman looks to build on what has been a good start to life at Old Trafford.
January acquisition Wout Weghorst is seen as a stop-gap solution for the perpetually injured Antony Martial and while the Netherlands striker has been impactful for the Red Devils this season, Ten Hag views Kane has the forward who can catapult the club into the stratosphere of potential title contenders.
The 29-year-old's current deal with Tottenham Hotspur runs out at the end of next season, and with the Lilywhites suffering from yet another underwhelming season in the UEFA Champions League as well as the uncertainty surrounding the future of manager Antonio Conte, it seems that this could the best time for United to pounce on the England captain.
Luring the marksman away from north London will, however, not be an easy task as Spurs are notoriously difficult negotiators and will want to keep their academy product for as long as they possibly can. Any attempt to get the London native out of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium will likely cost United north of £100 million (R2.2 billion), which is the British transfer record.

The same report suggests that the 53-year-old tactician believes that Kane will have a similar impact to that of Casemiro on the squad. The Brazilian has been crucial in United's ascendance this season.
