The administration of the Central African Republic has decided to temporarily ban a number of high-ranking officials within the Central African Football Federation (RCA).
The decision was taken by Sports Minister Rodolphe Doneng Wanzoumon, who decreed that officials including the President, Vice-Presidents, and the Secretary General should be suspended for the next six months.
"(The officials) are strictly prohibited from representing the country in sporting activities at the national and international levels, at the risk of prosecution in accordance with the law," Doneng Wanzoumon said in an official statement.
The RCA is being accused of a number of offences, including alleged misconduct such as disrespecting the national team, unauthorised international travel without FIFA clearance, breaches of sports ethics, and lack of financial accountability.
According to AfricaSoccer.com, the Department of Sports will now be overseen by the Central Inspectorate of Sports and Physical Education, as the country’s government wants the RCA to guarantee proper financial management and transparency.
This marks a new chapter in the saga involving the Sports Ministry and the RCA, following the dispute which arose from the appointment of Rigobert Song.
