The United States of America will host this year’s iteration of the global spectacle, and one of the clubs from there will kick off the tournament's proceedings, as the Herons play host to the Club of the Century.
Led by Liverpool and Barcelona legend Javier Mascherano, the American side will be participating in their first-ever Club World Cup, while Ahly will be making their 10th appearance in the competition.
The Hard Rock Stadium will provide the stage for the clash, but Mascherano expects a large contingent of North African support to be present and make the atmosphere hostile for his side.
"The World Cup will be an exceptional event, as it will bring together teams from all over the world, and the atmosphere will be different from continental tournaments. The situation is different because it concerns a global tournament,” the Argentine tactician said, as per Btolat.
"In fact, we expect a large number of Egyptian fans to attend, as such teams attract their own fans to support them. Therefore, I believe the match will be very difficult, even though we are playing at home, because a team like Al-Ahly is accustomed to playing in front of great coaches and large crowds.
"As a coach, I try to provide instructions and help the players. The atmosphere here is filled with love and respect. Apart from these aspects, everything else seems easy to me."
