The Red Devils and the Big Green will meet in their second group game of the tournament on Thursday 19 June as both sides go in search of their first win.
Al Ahly drew 0-0 with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the opening game of the tournament, while Palmeiras drew 0-0 with Portuguese giants FC Porto.
Speaking exclusively to 365Scores, Parreira claimed that Al Ahly, managed by Jose Riveiro, is capable of picking up a victory over Palmeiras.
"Matches between Al Ahly and Palmeiras always bring a lot of excitement for fans, and the results are usually very close," the Brazilian said.
"That’s why I believe the match won’t be easy for either side."
The 82-year-old gave Palmeiras a slight advantage over the Red Giant but said Al Ahly could surprise the Brazilian outfit.
"I think Palmeiras, thanks to their repeated participation in this tournament and the experience they’ve gained, have a slight edge," he said.
Adding: 'However, in these types of occasions, they could be surprised by a big club like Al Ahly, which is also capable of sealing the win. So we’re hoping for a great match.”
Parreira explained that it was not uncommon to see surprising results at a tournament such as the Club World Cup and said both sides were considered "great champions within their continents."
