Premier League giants Chelsea started their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC on Monday night.
None of the Blues' newest signings were given a start as coach Enzo Maresca went with the tried and tested, which included Nicolas Jackson leading the lead.
The Premier League outfit broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Jackson turned provider to play in Pedro Neto, who skipped past his marker before firing home in the box.
The second goal eventually arrived in the 79th minute as new signing Delap broke free down the right before sending a cross into the box, where Enzo Fernandez was on hand to fire home.
Maresca's charges will now take on Brazilian giants Flamengo in their next encounter, while LAFC tackle Esperance on Saturday.
Botafogo 2-1 Sounders
Botafogo began their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders on Monday morning.
First-half goals from Jair and Igor Jesus was enough to hand the Brazilian side maximum points.
Cristian Roldan netted for the Major Soccer League outfit.
Palmeiras 0-0 FC Porto
FC Porto and Palmeiras started their Club World Cup journey with a point a piece after a stalemate at MetLife Stadium.
Group A remains without a goal after the first round of matches after Inter Miami and Al Ahly drew on Sunday.
Palmeiras will now take on Al Ahly on Thursday, while Porto face Miami.
