The Herons face Jose Riveiro's Al Ahly in the first game of the Club World Cup and both sides have put in tremendous preparations ahead of the clash.
While Al Ahly's season concluded with victory in the Egyptian Premier League, Inter Miami is currently in the middle of the 2025 Major Soccer League (MLS) season, with Javier Mascherano's team sitting third in the Eastern Conference.
The Miami side will take a mid-season break to compete in the tournament and one of Mascherano's key assets, Sergio Busquets, revealed on the Inter Miami website how important the tournament is to the team.
"It's very exciting to play in a FIFA Club World Cup with the best clubs in the world," the 2010 World Cup winner said.
"We’re very much looking forward to it and, what’s more, we’re playing two games in our city, in our country, with our fans… this is what players want — to play in games of this magnitude and in these tournaments," Busquets added.
Busquets said it was important to start the tournament well and praised Inter Miami's tournament opponents, Al Ahly.
"I'm happy to kick off in front of our fans, in our city," the Spaniard said.
