The Red Devils face Inter Miami in the opening game of the FIFA Club World Cup in what will be former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro's first official game in charge of Al Ahly.
With the Egyptian side fresh off a friendly against Pachuca, attention is now squarely on the battle with Messi's side. Speaking on the Al Ahly website, Ibrahim revealed the squad was ready for the challenge ahead.
"We’re experiencing a fantastic atmosphere since arriving in the U.S,” Ibrahim said. "The current edition of the tournament, with its new format, gives us extra motivation. Every player is highly focused on representing the club honourably and leaving a mark that suits Al Ahly."
Despite long travels for the competition, the defender was excited to play in the new iteration of the competition. Ibrahim was full of praise for Jose Riveiro and the work he and his staff have done so far.
"The new technical team has dealt with us professionally from day one," the Egyptian said.
"We immediately began implementing their ideas and are trying to adapt to their style. We hope to grasp their approach quickly, especially with a challenge as big as the Club World Cup ahead."
With Al Ahly set to face the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, the Egyptian international revealed he was looking most forward to facing the Argentinian.
"I’d love to face Messi. Playing against him would be an honour and a challenge for any player in the world.”
The Red Giant number 6 also thanked Al Ahly's fans for their continuous support.
