Manchester United's struggles in the Premier League continued after losing 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.

Erik ten Hag handed a full league debut to new signing Manuel Ugarte while Marcus Rashford came into the side to replace Amad Diallo after starting on the bench against Crystal Palace last weekend.

The away side silenced the home crowd after just two minutes when Micky van Ven surged through the United half and burst into the box before pulling the back for Brennan Johnson to slot into an empty net.

Spurs nearly bagged a second goal in the 19th minute when another swift counter-attack ended with Johnson in the box, but the Wales international saw his strike crash against the upright.

United had a big chance to equalise on 35 minutes when Rashford's cross finds Alejandro Garnacho, whose first-time volley hit the upright at the far post.

The first half went from bad to worse for United, as they were reduced to ten men three minutes before the break when captain Bruno Fernandes was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on James Maddison while also lost Kobbie Mainoo to an injury.

Spurs doubled their lead two minutes after the break when Dejan Kulusevksi flicked the ball over Andre Onana after the Red Devils were caught on the counter once again.

The Red Devils did push for a way back after that as Lisandro Martinez went close with a first-time effort that sailed while Casemiro saw his strike sail inches wide of the upright on 68 minutes.

Erik ten Hag's final throw of the dice saw Danish duo Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund introduced for the final 20 minutes, with Rashford and Ugarte making in the process.

While United were pushing for a way back, Spurs ended any hopes of a United comeback with 13 minutes to play when Dominic Solanke turned home from six-yards out after Sarr's flick-on at the corner.
