The White Knights are poised to finish third for a third successive season, following their back-to-back league titles between 2020 and 2022. Since the departure of Jose Gomes midway through the current campaign, the club has had three different tacticians in the dugout, but they are now seeking greater continuity.
Currently at the helm is Ayman El Ramadi, who is in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season. He has failed to register a win in the two matches he has overseen — drawing 2-2 with his former side Cleopatra FC before suffering a 1-0 loss to Pyramids FC.
The five-time African champions are now seeking a long-term appointment, and according to Kora Plus, two of the coaches under consideration hail from South Africa. Mosimane and Mokwena, both former Mamelodi Sundowns head coaches, are believed to be of interest to Zamalek and are reportedly the only Africans on the shortlist.
Both possess experience in North African football — Mosimane having enjoyed remarkable success with Zamalek’s fierce rivals Al Ahly, while Mokwena recently concluded his first spell in the region after departing Wydad Athletic Club.
They join a shortlist that also includes former Esperance de Tunis boss Laurentiu Reghecampf of Romania, who this publication exclusively revealed was in talks with the Egyptian giants earlier this month.

It remains to be seen who the clear frontrunner for the post is, but it appears the club will deliberate on their decision once the domestic campaign concludes.
