Mokwena's move to Algeria came as a surprise to some fans after he left Moroccan side Wydad AC toward the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Speculation grew rife that the 38-year-old was set for a return to the Betway Premiership, while Egyptian sides Zamalek and Pyramids were also reportedly interested in securing his services for the 2025/26 season.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss chose the reigning Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 champions and has enjoyed a good pre-season with the Mouloudia.
A delayed start to the season means Mokwena has yet to take charge of an official game but the team's management has been impressed with the work he has done so far in training, according to Algerian publication, Sports News.
The club's management expressed its admiration for Mokwena and praised the work he's done with the team, and they feel he will be on track to meet the goals set for the new season.
Mokwena, however, reportedly has concerns with the team's management over its delay in announcing new names, as he was unable to work with new players before the new season began.
