Former Al Ahly goalkeeper Ekramy El-Shahat has offered a scathing analysis of Jose Riveiro's potential appointment.

Several reports have indicated that Riveiro is in line to replace Swiss coach Marcel Koller at Al Ahly after Orlando Pirates announced he will depart the club early.
While Al Ahly has identified Riveiro as the number one target, a former Al Ahly star has seemingly criticised his appointment, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.
"I don’t know who Riveiro is," El-Shahat was reported as saying.
"Maybe Al Ahly sees him as the future, or maybe they’re trying to replicate the Pitso Mosimane experience when he came from Sundowns."
The former star felt that Riveiro was the weakest candidate out of the club's managerial shortlist.
"All the other candidates whose names were mentioned had stronger CVs than his — he was the weakest among them," the former goalkeeper said.
The former goalkeeper commended interim coach Emad El-Nahhas's job but knew the club would eventually gravitate towards a foreign coach.
According to Btolat, journalist Ahmed Shobeir reportedly said the opposite of El-Shahat and claimed that Riveiro was deemed the strongest candidate.
"Jose Riveir is the most likely candidate to take over as coach of Al-Ahly, but there is a saying that goes, 'The devil is in the details,'" the journalist said.
Shobeir added: "Riveiro is one of the strongest candidates. If the deal happens and is completed, Al Ahly has chosen a project for the club. He is a 47-year-old coach, an offensive coach, and a defensive organizer."
The journalist revealed that Riveiro was the best fit out of the remaining candidates.
