The Al Ahly management team has been warned against sacking Jose Riveiro following the club's exit from the FIFA Club World Cup.

Speaking prior to Al Ahly's 4-4 draw to Al Ahly, Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shobeir addressed the rumours that Riveiro could be sacked should Al Ahly fail to qualify for the last 16 of the Club World Cup, according to Sport El-Watan.
"The idea that if Al Ahly loses to Porto, Jose Riveiro should be sacked and a new coach brought in — that would be a massive administrative blunder, a terrible mistake," Shobeir said. "I’m warning Al Ahly’s board against doing that."
The journalist said it would be 'unacceptable' to let the former Orlando Pirates coach leave after just three games in charge, adding that the Club World Cup is a different level of competition.
"Letting pressure push you into making that decision — no, absolutely not. That would be totally unacceptable. The man is coaching in the Club World Cup, the highest level of competition in the world," he said.
Shobeir condemned all comparisons between Riveiro's Al Ahly team and Simone Inzaghi's Al Hilal side. The Italian took over at the Saudi side ahead of the Club World Cup.

"Comparing Ribeiro’s situation at Al Ahly to Inzaghi’s with Al Hilal is unfair, because nearly all of Al Hilal’s players are well-known Europeans, so Inzaghi already knew them well before taking over," he concluded.
