Speaking on On Sport FM, Al Ahly legend turned broadcaster Ahmed Shobair revealed that the CAF Champions League title holders are asking for $3 million (R53.9 million) from any serious suitors for their talisman. The former shot-stopper stated that while the budding Egyptian superpower would love to keep their star striker, they are open to parting ways with him — but only for the aforementioned figure.
The same report claims that clubs from the Betway Premiership and the Qatari Stars League have enquired about the Democratic Republic of Congo international in recent weeks, while Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Fateh have expressed official interest. It is also understood that no official bid has been made by any club, as there have only been informal talks surrounding the attacker.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed yet another stellar campaign for the North African side this past season, scoring 18 goals and providing two assists in the 38 matches he played across all competitions. Although the club saw the league title slip away in the final matchweeks of the season, and failed to retain the Egyptian Cup — losing to Zamalek on penalties — they did capture African club football’s most illustrious prize in the CAF Champions League.
