The Moroccan giants were placed in the tournament's 'Group of Death' of the Club World Cup and will face Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain.

The Red Castle faces Pep Guardiola's side in their opening group game on Wednesday 18 June and Aziz Ki admitted he was optimistic about his team's chances, according to TelQuel.

"I’m very excited to take part in the Club World Cup with Wydad, especially since this will be my first time playing in the tournament," he said.

"I feel a strong sense of determination and drive to perform well and help my team achieve a positive result."

The Burkina Faso midfielder acknowledged the quality of his side's opponents and said it served as motivation for the Moroccan side.

"We’ll be playing against some of the best teams in the world — Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain," he said.

"That’s a huge motivation for us to face such top-level sides and compete against them with full intensity and enjoyment. Wydad is also a big team, and our presence at this tournament is proof of that. We will give everything we have for our amazing Wydad fans," he added.

Aziz Ki, who recently joined the Moroccan side from Yanga SC, admitted he was a long-time follower of Pep Guardiola.

"I’ve followed coach Pep Guardiola for a long time and I admire his coaching philosophy, whether at Barcelona or Manchester City. Now I get to play against him and face world-class players like Haaland — that alone is a huge source of motivation for me and my Wydad teammates to rise to the challenge against a powerful side like City," he concluded.
