After only spending one season with Swedish side Djurgardens IF, former Orlando Pirates winger Mark Mayambela has returned to South Africa - joining National First Division side Royal Eagles on a short-term contract.
Upon Mayambela’s return to Mzansi, it can be said that this short term contract may be used as a stepping stone to secure a deal with a Premier Soccer League side next season.
Should Bucs think about re-signing one of the fans' most adored players?
It’s a fact that Mayambela became a fan favourite wherever he went, even in Sweden - fans could not stop chanting his name. He knows what it takes to make the grade at the Sea Robbers and despite having a rather turbulent time at the club a couple of years ago, a move back to Mayfair could well be his second bite at the cherry.
Also, with names like Daine Klate and Tlou Segolela no longer at the club, Pirates could well look to a player like Mayambela to replace either one of the two flying wingers.
As a precocious youngster, Prof was never shy of showing off his skills whenever he was called upon - it was something that really got the crowds going. However, he’s now is at an age where things like showboating have to stop and he has to work on his craft in becoming an efficient winger, as opposed to a 15 minute trickster.
Having said that, should Bucs re-sign Mayambela next season?
