Producing goalkeepers has always been Mzansi's greatest asset to the beautiful game, but Mamelodi Sundowns can never seem to settle on one shot-stopper as their first choice. In fact, there's been just one season in recent times where they have stuck to one keeper!
When new coaches come in, they tend to juggle and shift players around the park, but this trend is rarely seen when it comes to choices between the sticks. However, a different story has been told at Chloorkop.
Since 2006, the Brazilians have featured seven different players in goal, with the 2012/13 campaign being the only season when one goalkeeper was used.
During that season, Wayne Sandilands was the favoured first choice for the Mamelodi-based club, turning out in all 30 Absa Premiership league appearances.
For the past two seasons, Pitso Mosimane has struggled to figure out who he prefers in goal. In the 2013/14 season, Kennedy Mweene and Thela Ngobeni featured alongside Sandilands, conceding 24 goals, one goal and two goals, respectively.
Last year, Denis Onyango was added to the mix, seeing Mosimane use four different shot-stoppers – more than any other club in the PSL.
Before Sandilands' one-man display three years ago, the duties were shared between himself, Calvin Marlin, Onyango and even Brian Baloyi.
The former Kaizer Chiefs legend made 56 appearances in the Downs kit in the space of four years, while then teenager Jackson Mabokgwane turned out twice back in 2007/08.
It seems there is a distinct lack of continuity in the goalkeeping department at Sundowns, which may have something to do with them winning just two league titles during this nine- to 10-year period.
What do you make of Sundowns' continuously chopping and changing their goalkeepers?
