Chiefs Submit R9.6 Million Offer For Midfielder?

Chiefs Submit R9.6 Million Offer For Midfielder?

In a dramatic turn of events, Valenciennes' player of the month for December, Glody Lilepo, is being pushed towards the exit by his current club, who are eager to sell the Congolese midfielder to Kaizer Chiefs.

According to French publication FootMercato, the French Ligue 2 club has a firm offer on the table worth €500,000  (±R9.6 million), but Lilepo, despite the financial incentives, is reluctant to make the move to the PSL.

Since his arrival in September 2023 from Al Hilal in Sudan, Lilepo has made a strong impact in Ligue 2, quickly establishing himself as a standout player. The 23-year-old midfielder, who previously played in the Democratic Republic of Congo, marked his debut for Valenciennes with two goals in his first three league matches, a scintillating start that made it clear why the club had invested in him.

However, the winds of change are blowing at Valenciennes.

The French club is reportedly in need of cash and is looking to offload Lilepo to Kaizer Chiefs, who are interested in securing the player's services. Despite the offer and the club's apparent eagerness to push through the deal, Lilepo's preferences lie firmly in Europe.

In addition to Kaizer Chiefs, Lilepo is also attracting attention from a Ligue 2 club as well as teams from Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, which has further complicated the situation. While the South African club's bid may be appealing financially, Lilepo's desire to continue his career in Europe could be a deciding factor in his future.

At a crossroads in his career, Lilepo must now weigh his options carefully. Will he follow the financial pull of Kaizer Chiefs, who are in desperate need of reinforcements in their midfield, or will he hold out for a move that keeps him closer to Europe, where he has already begun to build his reputation?

As the window for transfers heats up, the 27-year-old has an important decision to make — one that will have lasting consequences on his footballing journey. The ball is now firmly in his court. Will Glody Lilepo opt for the allure of South Africa, or will he choose to chase his European dream? Only time will tell...
