Wednesday night could be the evening of glory for Mamelodi Sundowns and the Yellow Nation. It is so close, they can almost taste it, their mouths are open and salivating. Only University of Pretoria stand between the Brazilians and the history books… and the supporters feel no mercy in the face of a forecasted slaughter.
"We don't have a game tonight, we have a win."
This was how prominent Sundowns supporter China answered the phone today. He chuckled and sighed as he went through what the match against Tuks could hold for Masandawana.
"I watched Wits' last game (Bidvest Wits versus Mpumalanga Black Aces), it was very interesting," he added.
"Shame, Wits gave us a good fight, but now… three points from three games is all that's needed."
Sundowns' dominance in the league has been pretty much unparalleled this season. As things stand, they sit on top of the league with five points to play with. They have won 19 of their 27 games and scored 50 goals in the process.
"I feel bad for AmaTuks, being our neighbors, but we do no favours," China continued.
"We will give them a 3-0 hiding, they deserve it. I'm sure they are going to give a good fight, but we are going to teach them a lesson tonight.
"Then, this weekend, we'll do the glory lap with a 2-0 win over Wits."
