One could almost feel a sigh of relief thrroughout South Africa when the story broke that Kaizer Chiefs' young star Emmanuel Letlotlo had reached an agreement with the club over his future. He will now officially be plying his trade with the senior team at Naturena. This is a massive victory for the supporters.
Whether he has what it takes to shine in the big leagues in the same way he did in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge remains to be seen, but what this saga has shown is that the wishes of the Amakhosi supporters do not fall upon deaf ears. There were repeated calls for Naturena to make the boy a permanent feature, and it seems as if the prayers have been answered.
"Welcome home, boy." – Phikza
"Letlotlo, welcome to the world of honey and milk." – Khosilogical
"If I was coach, I would give him a run against Sundowns tomorrow." – bonganitheo
"Thank you, Khosi management… This is exactly what we've been requesting." – SeaGate4
There is, however, still a concern, that Letlotlo may have been signed just to fill the numbers. While it is a good thing that his services have officially been acquired, a lot depends on how he is used by the coaching staff… Only time will tell in this regard.
"I remember, in the young (Hendrick) Ekstein saga, the same hype prevailed, but now they say Chiefs is too big for him." – Sanchez Alexis
Do you think Letlotlo will live up to the hype? Was it a good move to go to a team as big as Chiefs for his first full professional stint?
