Nabi On Top Three Finish: 'We Have To Be Honest'

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has admitted that finishing in the top three of the Betway Premiership will be difficult and he gave his reason for this.

Amakhosi dropped points yet again this past weekend, playing out to a 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy at Peter Mokaba Stadium, a game they probably feel they should have won. Not only did Amakhosi take the lead, but they had opportunities that were wasted, which has been a big concern for Nabi all season long.

Mathematically, Amakhosi can still finish in the top three and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup, but looking at current form, they probably have a more realistic chance of qualifying for the competition via the Nedbank Cup. They are in the semi-finals of the knockout competition and will take on Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, hoping to book a spot in the final.

After the game against the Rockets on Saturday, Nabi was asked about the side's chances of finishing in the top three.

"About top three, we need to take it game by game. We have to be honest, it's going to be difficult because we lost points and probably should not have lost those points. We need to take it game by game to see how we will finish the league," the former Young Africans coach said via his translator and assistant Cedric Kaze.

Amakhosi have found themselves taking the lead in some of their matches, only to drop points, which has been a hindrance to their progress.

"Even in the second half, the opponent was pushing to come back, but we had some transitional counter attacks where we could have killed the game. All the time when you don't kill the game, you keep the opponent alive and unfortunately they come back at a bad time. Very frustrating."
