Mamelodi Sundowns and PUMA have been discovering new ways to create innovative content and ideas for the fans, and their latest piece of works saw them unveil a new digital mascot. Have you seen it?
In anticipation for the 2017/18 ABSA Premiership season, the Brazilians' team sponsor PUMA created a digital mascot for Mamelodi Sundowns.
"The design was created in the image of the club – the players, the fans, the spirit, the sum of all its parts," an official press release read.
"At first he was known simply as 8-Bit Man, but Sundowns fans were called upon to take part in a social media poll on the @PUMASouthAfrica and @Masandawana Twitter feeds, to find a suitable name for the player who is kitted in team colours and will live and play in the digital world."
After numerous votes were placed, the name that generated the most support and got the best reaction was "SKYZA".
"A multi-talented animated character with a full bag of tricks, SKYZA's star will shine brightest in the smart mobile world and on the home stadium screen to drive support and conversation around match days," the release concluded.
