The promotion/relegation Play-Offs took centre stage on domestic football this past weekend with Orbit College registering the first win of the mini-league when they beat Casric Stars 1-0 with on-loan Orlando Pirates star, Siyabulela Mabele scoring the solitary goal in the 79th minute.
This was the first time there was a winner in this season’s Play-Offs with the preceding four games finishing in four draws. The win sees College at the summit of the log with five points from three games, as they won one and drew two.
College will be hosting Cape Town City on Wednesday afternoon, and a win will secure a promotion to the Betway Premiership for coach Pogiso Makhoye’s side, while The Citizens can’t afford anything less than a win if they are to entertain any chance of reclaiming their top flight status, as they only have two points from their first two games.
All eyes will be on the Wednesday encounter as it is the most important game of the season for both teams, as so much is at stake. Casric will be watching with keen interest as they have an outside chance at promotion. A win for City, depending on goal difference, will provide Casric with an opportunity to fight for something in their last game away in Cape Town while a draw or a win for Orbit will eliminate both City and Casric.
