After Orlando Pirates claimed the Nedbank Cup with a 3-1 win in the final over Bidvest Wits, a number of prominent South Africans took to Twitter to congratulate the cup champions.
Former Orlando Pirates star, Andile Jali (@andilejali870), who himself was a victor on the day with Oostende, as he scored in a penalty shoot-out to beat Kortrijk in the Belgian Playoff II final, tweeted, "Back to Africa next year boys good job once and always black is back to Africa."
Another former Pirate Mark Fish (@markfish74(, got two of his three wishes right for the night, as he tweeted, "Well done Orlando pirates ....1 down 2 to go...now for the Gooners and hoping Barcelona can pull a rabbit out of a hat and win la liga!!"
Minister of Sport Fikile Mbalula (@MbalulaFikile) tweeted, "Up the bucs !!! Congratulations to Orlando Pirates for winning keyona cup . U are the deserving champs ,sorry Wits next time."
Current Pirates players also took to Twitter, with Thandani Ntshumayelo (@RealNtshumayelo) simply tweeting, "Champs," with an accompanying picture, while Lehlohonolo Majoro (@BalloJoro) tweeted, "God's plan never fails - gold medal."
Aubrey Ngoma (@aubrynho11) tweeted, "Well done to Orlando Pirates, we deserve it… 4th time lucky, we kept trying until we got it right."
South African International cricketer Wayne Parnell also sent his congratulations, especially to fellow Port Elizabeth players Daine Klate and Kermit Erasmus. Parnell tweeted, "Well done to the #Buccaneers. Nedbank Cup Champions. Well done lads @Klatey7 @Erasmus_95 #OrlandoPirates"
