Orlando Pirates' 6-0 Defeat Is Their Worst Ever Result

The 2016/17 Absa Premiership season has not been kind to Orlando Pirates, and this weekend it was made even worse as they suffered their worst ever defeat.   See the current Absa Premiership table here   Mamelodi Sundowns smashed six goals past the Buccaneers without reply before terrible scenes at Loftus Versfeld Stadium caused the game to be called to halt with minutes left to play, with fans growing increasingly upset at the club's poor performances.   Augusto Palacios didn't return for the final eight minutes, with the Peruvian becoming the second Pirates coach this season to see his side concede six goals in a single game.   SuperSport United beat Muhsin Ertugral's side 6-1 back in November as they equalled the club's worst loss – against Sundowns in 1990 – but this weekend's result added insult to injury as it made its way into the club's record books.   The defeat to SuperSport led to Ertugral resigning live on television last year, and at this stage the club are yet to announce the man who will be taking over from the Turkish coach.   While the diabolical scenes in Pretoria will live in memory for years to come given their severity, the game will also go down as the match in which the Buccaneers suffered the worst defeat in their 80-year existence.
