The memorial service marks what has been a tragic week for the South African Sporting fraternity which has had to endure the untimely deaths of three of its sporting icons.

Meyiwa, 27, was fatally shot by two suspects while at a residence in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. The Bucs and Bafana star was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on his arrival.

Mulaudzi who was 34, lost his life in a fatal car accident last Friday near Johannesburg, whilst Mwelase was taken off life support after she had fallen into a coma after being knocked out in the ring during a boxing match.

The memorial service which will take place on Thursday, 30 October, is expected to be attended by some of South Africa's distinguished political and sporting elite.
