Durban City have officially confirmed the appointment of seasoned tactician Gavin Hunt as their new head coach for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
This comes after Soccer Laduma first reported in June that Hunt was tipped to take over following the exit of former coach Simo Dladla. The news has now been made official, with the club confirming the deal on their official social media platforms and through a formal statement.

“Citizens, let’s welcome Gavin Hunt. Our New Head Coach. Bringing a winning legacy to our team, our city. A new chapter begins,” Durban City wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Durban City Football Club is delighted to officially announce the appointment of Gavin Hunt as the Club’s new Head Coach ahead of the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership Season.
With a distinguished career spanning more than two decades at the top level of South African Football, Hunt brings a wealth of experience, having won multiple league titles and domestic trophies. His strong leadership style and results driven approach aligns perfectly with Durban City’s ambitions as we prepare for the upcoming 2025/2026 Betway Premiership Season.
Club Chairman, Farook Kadodia expressed his confidence in the new appointment;

Hunt, who has previously enjoyed success with SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits, and other top-flight clubs, will now be tasked with guiding Durban City in what is expected to be a pivotal campaign in their top-flight ambitions.
