Denwin Farmer Will Join Maritzburg United From SuperSport United
Maritzburg United have secured the signature of talented young defender, Denwin Farmer, as part of the deal that saw Evans Rusike move to SuperSport United.   Read: Rusike Explains SuperSport Switch   Rusike's move to Matsatsantsa was confirmed yesterday as they snapped up the Zimbabwean as a replacement for Jeremy Brockie, while the Siya crew had previously reported that Fadlu Davids was keen to bring Farmer on board in KwaZulu-Natal.   Now, as confirmed by SuperSport's CEO Stan Matthews, Davids has got his man, although will only have the defender at his disposal come the start of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership campaign.   Matthews said, "Denwin will join Maritzburg at the start of next season. Look, Denwin has been with us a long time and we rate him very highly. We didn't really want to lose him, but he's not been playing regularly and Fadlu likes him a lot.    "We can't let him go now because of the injuries that we have and our upcoming schedule, and we're confident that he'll do a great job with us for the rest of the campaign before he starts the next chapter in his career. We wish him all the best and know that he'll be focused on helping us finish as high as possible this season."   The crew also spoke to Siyavuma Sports Group, the player's agency, who said, "Denwin has thoroughly enjoyed his time with SuperSport. He's been with them, and us, since he was 14, and thanks them for everything they've done for his career. He's had a frustrating year after a shoulder injury that took a long time to heal, but he wants to leave the club on a high, so staying for the season isn't an issue, and now he's playing it's good for him.    "We see him as one of the top young centre backs in the country and he's only 21, we're looking forward to his new adventure for Maritzburg who have one of the most exciting, young, forward-thinking coaches, and technical teams, in the country."   The South African youth international has nearly 30 senior appearances to his name despite only recently turning 21, and will be looking to kick on under the tutelage of Davids in KZN later this year.
