Group A is delicately balanced after the first round of fixtures, with all the sides involved sitting on one point. The mini-league’s African representative, Al Ahly, were held to a 0-0 draw against Inter Miami in the opening match of the competition, but they now face Brazilian giants Palmeiras.
The two sides have previously met twice at this competition, with each winning once. Palmeiras appear to recognise the strength of the record African champions, as star goalkeeper and Brazil international Weverton claimed that Ahly will be at the level of a European side.
"The next game is not against a European team, but it will undoubtedly be just as difficult as the first game. It's a team that has played together for a long time and is used to big competitions. So we really have to compete again now with a bit more precision so that we can be successful, both defensively and offensively," the goalkeeper told Brazilian media outlet Terra.
Their first match was against a UEFA club, as they also drew 0-0 with Portuguese juggernauts FC Porto, but the 37-year-old said that performance gave them belief that they can compete with any side.

"We saw that by turning on our competitive mode we can really compete well against any team. Debuts are always very difficult, the tension is always very high, we missed the detail there which was the goal and now we will continue working so that we can improve," said Weverton.
