Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing one of Real Madrid's stalwarts at the end of this season.
Reports: Mourinho Lays More Misery On Schweinsteiger
According to AS, Jose Mourinho wants more defensive cover for his team, with it being suggested he is eyeing Portugal centre back Pepe.
The 33-year-old, whose current contract expires at the end of this season, apparently wants a two-year extension at Los Blancos, but the club is believed to be reluctant to give him this.
Italian giants Juventus are also rumoured to be chasing Pepe's signature for next season, but with Mourinho having already coached the defender, the player may prefer to reunite with his former coach.
The Portuguese manager is keen on reinforcing his defence in the next two transfer windows, and if he can land Pepe, then he would have another senior figure in the changing room at Old Trafford.
The futures of Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind have come under question in recent weeks, and Mourinho is said to be looking for a new partner for Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly.
